Shiva Ratri in London

I got up in the morning and gave a call to India only to know that they were celebrating Shiva Ratri. On this day , every year pretty much the day goes like this. Morning perform pooja to Lord Shiva and then wait for some delicious and special dishes to be served by mom. Then in the evening go to Shiva temple . We would have to stand in the queue for atleast 2-3 hours if you are going before 12:00 AM. People stay awake the enitre night chanting the verses on Lord Shiva. In the temple people keep chanting the hymes on Lord Shiva and priests performing the pooja entire night.
Okie lets come back to London now.......
So keeping this in mind went to office. Here in London we are 6 of us who have travelled from India. So we all decided to go to some temple in the eveining. There is a Indian Lady in our team who is kind of settled here. She gave us some pointers as to where to go and how to reach there.
So after a lot of discussion we decided to go to SouthHal. This place is supposed to be dominated by mostly asians. I had already got an idea about this place from what i had heard from a lot people, but was just eagerly waiting to witness by myself.
It took about 2 hours for us to reach that place. After asking couple of people for the way, we reached Lord Shiva Temple. I`ll talk about the place and the experience lil later. I felt so happy just by the glimpse of the temple.
Standing in the long queue reminded me of temple near my house in India (Bangalore). It was a similar kind of experience here as well. There were atleast 150 people in the temple. After standig in the queue for about 45 mins we had a very good darshana of Lord Shiva and also had an oppurtunity to perform abhisheka on the idol of Shiva. This was a wonderful experience.

Then we all went to Chandni Chowk (restraunt) and had a delicious food. The food was simply amazing and i felt that it tasted better than a lot of hotels in bangalore.

At the end of the day i had the satisfactiom of celebrating Shiva Ratri even in the foreign land and this would remain in my memory for ever..
